Custom Glass Table Top

Glass Table Top are an excellent choice for many reasons. Firstly, they are surprisingly versatile and will work with any theme that you have – whether that’s antique, country, minimalist, modern, or whatever else. You can match them with any type of chair that you like, as there is no fear that the glass will not work with them. This means that you have complete freedom, chair wise! Another reason why glass dining tables are great is because they are a reflective surface.

They will actually reflect light back into the room and make it look lighter and brighter. Light will also travel through the glass to a certain degree and so a glass table will not look as “dominating” in the space. It will actually make your space feel larger and more open. Don’t think that you are stuck with just clear glass either! You can choose glass that is tinted in a range of different colours (including black!), that is frosted, that is etched, or anything else that you like.

FAQ

What Glass Thickness Do I Need For My Table?

tempered glass tabletop is perfect for dining rooms, making them feel more special and formal. If you’re thinking about adding a tempered glass top to your dining table and wondering about what thickness is best, read on.

Tempered glass is perfect for dining tables because they are long-lasting, resistant to heat, and don’t scratch easily. For the dining table, you can either have a table made from glass and place that over a table stand or you can have a glass top made for an existing table.

As for the thickness of your tempered glass table top, this depends largely on the size of your dining table. Thinner glass, such as 3/16 inch, is best if you’re opting for a glass cover or protective cover to place on top of your current dining table. Thicker glass, such as 1/2 inch or 3/8 inch, is more appropriate for glass pieces that will be placed on top of a pedestal or stand and will be used as the actual dining table surface.

Thicker glass is also best for when your dining table is on the large side and/or will be used to support heavy loads, i.e. if you have a big family or frequently host parties. If your table is at least 24 inches in diameter, a glass thickness of at least 1/4 inch is best.

In general, 1/2 and 3/8 inch thickness are the most durable and most attractive. 1/4 inch thickness are best for smaller tables such as patio tables and coffee tables.

What kind of edges can I have put on my glass table top or table cover?

We offer four different types of edging for your glass table top. The type of edging you choose will be influenced by the use to which you put the table. Here are the basic edges: Seamed edge – removes the sharpness for safer handling. In this application, after the glass is cut the edges are sanded to dull the sharp edges. This is to make the glass safe to handle. Choose a seamed edge if the glass is to be framed and in applications where the edges are not visible. Flat edge – a polished “square” edge. In this application the edge of the glass have been polished to a smooth shiny finish. Choose a flat polish when the edge of the glass are visible and you prefer a minimalistic look. Pencil edge – a polished round edge. In this application the edge of the glass have been polished to a smooth shiny rounded finish. Beveled edge – a straight sloped edge from 1/2 inch to 1-1/2 inch slope. In this application the edge of the glass are cut and polished in an angle with a specific bevel width. Bevel width must be specified by the customer and can be range in size from 1/4″ to 1-3/4″. Most common one is 1″. Bevel width must be entered in the system when pricing and ordering.

What is tempered glass?

Tempered glass is stronger than standard glass and does not shatter into large shards when broken. Tempered glass is often used in applications where using standard glass could pose a potential danger. Manufactured through a process of extreme heating and rapid cooling, tempered glass is much harder and stronger than normal glass.

How should I clean glass table tops?

When cleaning your glass table, choose a good quality glass cleaner that will not leave unsightly streaks. Use a lint-free cloth, or better yet, some crumpled newspaper or coffee filters, to wipe down the glass, taking care not to use too much of the cleaner.

If the glass is framed by wood or other non-glass material, do your best to keep the glass cleaner on the glass so you don’t ruin non-glass material. Two popular products for cleaning glass include Windex and the powdered version of Bar Keepers Friend cleaner (which also works great on other various household surfaces.) Another great and chemical-free option would be to use a polishing microfiber cloth designed specifically for cleaning glass surfaces with a water spray bottle.
